The moisture content is often an important aspect of foodstuffs including cheese and many dried goods such as tea where excess moisture can promote bacterial growth, decay, molding, or rotting over time. Also in different processing plants there has been a need for analysis of moisture levels, knowing the moisture levels you can perform a better control on the processing plant. This need has given rise to a new area of science, Aquametry. There are many ways to measure moisture in products; such as different wave measurement(light and audio), electromagnetic fields, capacitive methods and the more traditional weighing and drying technique. GNU Free Documentation License What are some ways to draw out moisture? Q. Here is the story; I left for work the other day and the toilet overflowed (w/ clean water) However the water ran out alll day and we've been vacuming it and the carpets are pretty much dry, however I was wondering if their is any thing that draw the moisture left over from the carpet out. Also the wood baseboards and whatnot have absorb some water. Does anyone have any "tricks" or anything that helps draw the moisture out? I will try anything. Thank you, you tips are appreciated. Q. I recently purchased a small device for gardening that can read light levels and the PH and moisture levels in soil. Since it does not use any batteries (including no in-built battery) how does it work? Can it determine moisture content through a chemical process? The meter just has two metal probes that are stuck into the soil. Asked by DBunny - Wed May 9 07:44:29 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It uses the same principle as your classic "lemon" or "Mr Potato" battery. (Stick two nails in a lemon, connect a small light in between, and the light will turn on") The meter just "measures" the conductivity of the solid. No water = no conductivity = no meter reading Water helps create a small current between the two probes and then you get a measurement. Q. My new apt is not properly ventilated and the wall forms the back of the built-in closet. I can see that moisture may affect the wall of the closet especially as it is painted and may get my clothes all dirty. I need something cheap and home made maybe to help with the humidity and odor.
