I would like pull up the existing flooring in my home and paint or stain the concrete slab for a decorative finish. I know all about acid stain and it seems too expensive. I would love to be able to just clean the concrete, stain using regular concrete stain, and then seal. I am also considering painting the concrete floors but I don't want them to bubble or peel. Any ideas for this remodel project? Asked by Amers - Thu Jun 7 15:24:47 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. clean the concrete with muriatic acid (read directions) pressure wash it if possible, and then buy concrete paint or stain at Lowes. I prefer the stain for the washed out casual look Answered by mel s - Thu Jun 7 15:28:11 2007 Ways to refurbish dressers made of particle board? Q. I have a couple dressers from the eighties that I would like to find a way to modernize a little rather than shelling out money to replace them. They're large pieces made of particle board with a wood veneer finish, very dark in colour with a fake "wood" grain look to them and decorative vines/flowers etched into the top drawers. Does anyone have any ideas to update these pieces a bit? Is there anything I can do, short of buying new dressers? Asked by Kate - Mon Aug 17 18:33:59 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Take out the drawers and paint the dressers any color you want. Remove the knobs and use textured wall paper on the drawer fronts. They have some cool reed & all sorts of neat textured printed wallpapers, etc. Then watch for new knobs that go on sale, and replace the old ones. Voila, new look. Q. I have a day bed made out what I think is a form of porcelain, at least it looks like it. It has these decorative balls on the top. They are painted with flowers. This bed is about 15 years old and I want to update it by painting those balls over. What kind of paint would I need and any special techniques? I would just cover it with a solid color...thank you :) Asked by Michelle L - Thu Jul 12 12:42:12 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Get those balls off the bed, and sand them -hard- to scratch them up a bit so they'll hang on to the paint. Spray paint them the color you want, building up very thin layer after layer, allowing each to dry thoroughly between applications. Use an epoxy type paint.
