Nounarchitects
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. An architect is a person trained in the planning, design and oversight of the construction of buildings, and is licensed to practice architecture. To practice architecture means to offer or render services in connection with the design and construction of a building, or group of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings, that have as their principal purpose human occupancy or use. Etymologically, architect derives from the Latin architectus, itself derived from the Greek arkhitekton (arkhi-, chief + tekton, builder), i.e. chief builder. Professionally, an architect's decisions affect public safety, and thus an architect must undergo specialized training consisting of advanced education and a practicum (or internship) for practical experience to earn a license to practice architecture. The practical, technical, and academic requirements for becoming an architect vary by jurisdiction (see below). The terms architect and architecture are also used in the disciplines of information technology (for example a software architect). In most of the world's jurisdictions, the professional and commercial uses of the term "architect", outside of the etymological variants noted, is legally protected. From Wikipedia under the

Also, I would like to work on projects such as buildings in New York City. I have three questions: How much money do architects working on large buildings make? What field of architecture is this considered? What are starting salaries for these architects, and will they be hired if they come from top colleges? Asked by GEEE UNIT - Wed Apr 23 01:17:25 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. $100 to 400 dollars for a small house you designed. One small house will take you around a 3 weeks to design or even more. You would also face a deadline and work overtime as working at nights. You will get like 3 or 4 houses to design for a month. It depends what kind of house. For example you designed a small house, $100-$400, one more little bigger one is $500 and another normal one is $800. If you will work hard you will get at least $2000 a month. If you will design more buildings a month you will get like $4000 to $6000 a month. It will depend how hard you will work. You can go even more depends what are you building. Q. Im 15, almost 16 and ive been designing houses for awhile. Most of my houses are large, in excess of 5000 sq ft and beyond. The houses that i have designed are extremely detailed and I think are good enough to be an architects work, not bragging but I beleive they are very good. Are you able to get in contact with firms and see if they would want to buy the plans from you? My plans are only drawings of the sides of the house and floorplans, enough for a real architect to carry on. Asked by Car Guy - Thu Jul 1 14:52:13 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I don't think they'd be interested because many architects have several of their own designs they'd really love to see built, but unfortunately, not all of those make it past the drawing board. This isn't to discourage you though, you are quite young and seem very interested in the field.. compile your work into a portfolio, it could earn you an internship or impressive job someday =) Answered by Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang - Thu Jul 1 15:38:00 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "architects" Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and structures.
