Rounding corners in a room for acoustics/repelling spiders?
Q. Would filling the corners of a room as such like the inverse of a sphere so that it is completely round instead of cornered by 3 walls do the following: 1. Help acoustics by helping to reduce standing waves? 2. Reduce/repel spiders due to the round surface making it harder for the spiders to create a web?

A. The corners of a room comprise a very small percentage of the total reflective surface. A "hard" room can be softened by the addition of anything that will break-up a pattern. For instance, an auditorium will have varying acoustics depending on what / who is in it. Some are designed with a particular , expanding shape, and non- parallel walls with offsets, heavy curtains and acoustical obstructions -not rounded corners. Any room full of furniture or people will be more quiet (acoustically softer) than an empty room. Yes, spiders build in corners because it is easy. WHAT DO YOU USE FOR ACOUSTICS IN A LARGE ROOM THAT HOLDS MANY PEOPLE? ?
Q. I work in a restaurant that has a large dining room. All voices carry and there is little in the room except the tables, chairs and a few pictures on the walls. I have been told to use carpet , acoustic tiles, curtains and foam pieces cut into pyramids to hang from the ceiling.

Question about using in-ear monitors when singing?
Q. On occasion, I am asked to help with my worship team at church. I've had choral training (classical and show choir), so I'm used to having wedge monitors at the front of the stage. My church uses an in-ear monitoring system which I'm very unfamiliar with. I was taught that when you listen to your voice in your head (with ears plugged), the sound that is heard is actually sharper than what is being produced. In other words, you end up singing flat even though you think you're in tune. I notice a difference when I hum a note and then plug my ears; the pitch does go up a bit in my head when my ears are plugged. The first time I helped with worship, I ended up not using my earphones.
